ROME: Urban Fossilization Processes

This is a study on processes of urbanization in Rome that I developed while in graduate school in geography.
The notion of palimpsests, enduring imprints within the dynamic urban form, may be a clue to creating more meaningful, lasting and valued urban places. I chose Rome as a model in stark contrast to Baltimore City's bulldoze, replace, remove, bulldoze, replace, remove approach to urban form.

It was during this research process that I realized I had to do more than study these phenomena, so I headed to grad school in landscape architecture the following year.
